The CLA 45 AMG which made its first Indian appearance at the Auto Expo, is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged direct-injection petrol engine that belts out 355 bhp and 450 Nm of torque. The motor is claimed to be the world's most powerful four-cylinder engine in series production. The power is sent to all the wheels via an AMG SPEEDSHIFT 7-speed transmission and the 4MATIC system.
The sedan can accelerate from rest to 100 km/h in under 5 seconds on its way to an electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h. The most affordable AMG in India returns a combined fuel economy of 14.08 km/l under the European driving cycle.
The CLA 45 AMG is differentiated from the civilized variants (which are expected to find India sometime in 2015) by means of new bumpers with carbon fibre inserts, carbon fibre interior trim, AMG sports steering wheel and gear lever, and 18-inch AMG alloy wheels that are shod with 235/40 section tyres. In equipment, the performance variant gets three-stage ESP and Curve Dynamic Assist.
The Mercedes CLA 45 AMG will be a CBU import. Its prices in Europe start at 47,600 euros (around INR 40 lakhs).
