A petrol variant is expected to launch in the coming months.
Sales of the Maruti Vitara Brezza have crossed the 50,000 mark in a span of 7 months. The Maruti Vitara Brezza was launched in March this year and competes in the sub-4 meter SUV segment, rivaling the likes of the Ford EcoSport, Mahindra TUV300 and the Mahindra NuvoSport.
The Maruti Vitara Brezza is available only with a diesel engine option in India. It is powered by the 1.3-liter four-cylinder DDiS unit capable of 90 PS and 200 Nm of torque, and comes paired to a 5-speed manual transmission. Maruti claims a 0-100 km/h time of 13.3 seconds.
Maruti is understood to be working on introducing new engine options and gearbox technologies for the Vitara Brezza. At the GIIAS show which took place this year in Indonesia in August, the Vitara Brezza was announced to feature an automatic transmission, whereas previous reports state that a petrol engine option is also being worked on.
The petrol option would be the 1.0-liter three-cylinder turbocharged Boosterjet engine, or possibly even the M15A 1.5-liter naturally-aspirated petrol which is expected to launch on the Maruti S-Cross shortly.
