Expected to launch before the end of this year.
GaadiWaadi has acquired spyshots of the top-end Maruti Ignis testing, featuring a completely wrapped body with what appears to be roof-rails. The Ignis is confirmed to go on sale in India before the end of this year, with reports speculating a launch to take place around October.
The Indian-spec Maruti Ignis will look largely identical to the model sold in Japan, save for a chrome-accentuated grille and roof-rails. It measures 3,700 mm long, 1,660 mm in wide, 1,595 mm in high, has a 2,435 mm long wheelbase and an 180 mm ground clearance. Top-end variants will ride on black-painted 15-inch alloy rims similar to the set seen in the spyshot.
Inside, the styling is distinct from other Maruti products sold in the market. The Ignis has a utilitarian floating dual tone dashboard that houses a freestanding SmartPlay display, unique HVAC controls and a new steering wheel design.

The Maruti Ignis will be available in both petrol and diesel variants. The former is powered by a 1.2-liter K12B engine with VVT and the latter packs a 1.3-liter DDiS engine which could receive Suzuki’s SHVS mild hybrid tech. A 5-speed manual will be standard on both variants, while an (AGS) AMT gearbox could be exclusive to the petrol variant.
