Maruti's first sub-4m SUV will be unveiled tomorrow.
Maruti Suzuki confirmed today that it will unveil the Maruti Vitara Brezza on Feb 3 (tomorrow) and the Maruti Baleno RS Concept and Maruti Ignis Concept will be unveiled a day later, both at the India Expo Mart in Greater Noida on the media days of the 2016 Auto Expo.
The Vitara Brezza will reportedly have its market launch in March while the Baleno RS and Ignis are programmed in the second half of the year. The Maruti Brezza is designed and developed from scratch by Maruti engineers led by Mr. C.V. Raman, Executive Director, R&D of Maruti Suzuki.
The Brezza will come only with a diesel engine, a leaked specification sheet revealed. To launch in six variants, all variants get a driver airbag standard, while the ZDi+ gets engine starter button, cruise control, automatic headlights and rain sensing wipers. Its 1.3-liter DDiS diesel will be mated to a 5-speed manual transmission, and produce about 90 PS.
The India-spec Maruti Ignis concept, as shown in the teaser this morning, gets a chrome grille and roof rails. Billed as a compact crossover, it will take on the likes of the Mahindra KUV100 and the higher variants of the Renault Kwid, when it goes on sale via its NEXA outlets this festival season. It is based on the same platform as the Maruti Baleno, and unlike the Brezza should offer both fuel options.
The second unveiling on February 4 is the Maruti Baleno RS Concept. The sporty edition of the Baleno comes with extra visual pop, courtesy of the full body kit, side skirting, large dark alloy wheels and a diffuser-like rear element. Expect the Baleno RS to be the positioned as the hatchback's fully-loaded variant, much like what the Ciaz RS is to the Ciaz.
