Maruti Vitara Brezza wins ICOTY 2017

The Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, which this year became India's best selling SUV, has been adjudged Indian Car of the Year 2017 by a jury of leading automobile experts drawn from across publications.

The Brezza has undoubtedly transformed India’s urban SUV landscape following its launch in March 2016, making it the obvious choice for the ICOTY 2017 title. Following its reveal at the Auto Expo 2016 in February, the success of the Brezza can be attributed to its features, future-ready safety, outstanding fuel economy and striking looks.

Currently available only with a diesel engine, the Brezza is powered by the tried and tested 1.3-liter four-cylinder DDiS engine capable of 90 PS and 200 Nm of torque, and comes paired to a 5-speed manual transmission. Some of its features are dual airbags, ABS+EBD, projector headlights, 16-inch alloy wheels, auto climate control, cruise control, 7-inch SmartPlay touchscreen system with inbuilt navigation, Apple CarPlay support, reverse parking camera and start/stop button.

Accepting the award at a function last Tuesday, Managing Director and CEO of Maruti Suzuki, Kenichi Ayukawa said:

MSIL has received over 1.72 lakh bookings for Brezza since its launch, making Maruti Suzuki the No.1 utility vehicle manufacturer. Recognizing the customer's need for personalization, the company has also launched “i Create”, a unique experience in Vitara Brezza, which gives it 90 customization combinations across five different packages.
