Maruti Suzuki is getting ready to launch the S-Presso on 30 September 2019. The entry-level SUV has been spotted on several occasions previously and recent reports have also revealed details about its equipment lines. In the latest, its dimensions have leaked online, courtesy Autocar India.
The Maruti S-Presso will be staged as an entry-level SUV and will be directly pitted against the Renault Kwid. It will measure 3,565 mm in length, 1,520 mm in width and 1,564 mm in height. Thus, it will be 114 mm shorter, 59 mm narrower and 86 mm taller than the Renault Kwid. The wheelbase, at 2,380 mm, will be 42 mm shorter than that of the arch-rival. The ground clearance and the fuel tank capacity will be the same - 180 mm and 27 litres, respectively.
Another key detail to note is that the higher-spec S-Presso variants will reportedly roll on 14-inch wheels wrapped in 165/70-section rubbers, while the Kwid only gets smaller, 13-inch wheels with 155/80-section rubbers.
In terms of mechanicals, it will make use of a BS-VI compliant version of the K10B 1.0-litre naturally aspirated three-cylinder petrol powerhouse which produces 50 kW (67.98 PS) of maximum power at 5,500 rpm and 90 Nm of peak torque at 3,500 rpm in its current BS-IV version. 5-speed manual and 5-speed automated manual will be the transmission options on the S-Presso. Maruti Suzuki will also introduce a CNG powered S-Presso in the later stage.
