Maruti Suzuki today launched the Vitara Brezza Sports Limited Edition, which is basically an accessorised Vitara Brezza. For reference, the prices of the regular model range from INR 7,67,742-10,42,742*.

Existing Maruti Vitara Brezza customers can also convert their SUV into the Maruti Vitara Brezza Sports Limited Edition.

The Sports Limited Edition package includes a wide range of accessories including new seat covers, designer mats, slide cladding, body graphics, front and rear garnish, leather steering cover, door sill-guard, wheel arch kit, neck cushion and more. Existing Vitara Brezza customers can also equip their SUV with this accessory package.

The Maruti Vitara Brezza is powered by the soon-to-be-phased-out D13A 1.3-litre DDiS 200 engine which churns out 66 kW (89.7PS) at 4,000 rpm and 200 Nm of peak torque at 1,750 rpm. 5-speed manual and 5-speed automated manual are the transmission choices. FWD drivetrain layout is standard across the range.

By March 2020, the D13A 1.3L DDiS 200 diesel engine will likely be replaced with the K15B 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol engine from the Maruti Ciaz and Maruti Ertiga. This four-cylinder mill produces 77 kW (104.69 PS) 6,000 rpm and 138 Nm of torque at 4,400 rpm. Whether a mild-hybrid system will be offered or not remains to be seen. The 5-speed AMT could be replaced by a 4-speed AT.

The Maruti Vitara Brezza has been the undisputed king in the SUV space, but not for long. The just-launched Hyundai Venue priced aggressively from INR 6.50-10.84 lakh* is sure going to have a significant impact on its sales. The Sports Limited Edition should not be seen as an answer to the new threat, though, because Maruti Suzuki knows better, and it has lined up a mid-cycle refresh for roll out in the second half of this fiscal. However, the company does want to remind us all about the success and dominance of its small SUV in its segment. Below is what it said while introducing the Sports Limited Edition:

It (Vitara Brezza) has achieved the fastest 4 lakh sales mark in the SUV segment in just 35 months, with a CAGR of over 13%. Vitara Brezza is one of the top 10 bestselling cars of the country. It has been consistently clocking growing numbers, much higher than several competition products put together.

Just for the record, Maruti Suzuki has sold over 4.35 lakh units of the Vitara Brezza since launch in 2016.
