Following its launch on October 17, a report suggests that prospective customers willing to place an order on the Maruti Ertiga facelift will have to wait for a month to receive the new MPV. Meanwhile, initial units of the new Ertiga have already started arriving at dealerships for demo and display purposes.
The 2015 Ertiga features a revised exterior design, sporting a new 3-slat chrome grille, new front bumper design with chrome accents, revised alloy wheel/wheel cover design, and a chrome applique with the nameplate embossed at the back.
Inside, the top-end Z+ trim gets a start/stop button, 7-inch SmartPlay touchscreen system with navigation and voice commands, auto-fold ORVMs, and keyless entry. As for safety equipment, a driver-side airbag is standard across all variants, while higher variants come with dual airbags and ABS/EBD.
The new Ertiga carries over the engine lineup from the outgoing model, but with slight improvements. The petrol variant is powered by a 1.4-liter K14B engine, which has been tuned to deliver a better fuel mileage of 17.5 km/l. The Vxi trim is now available with a 4-speed automatic transmission as an option.
The diesel variant with the 1.3-liter DDiS 200 engine now benefits from the SHVS technology, which incorporates a Start/Stop system, torque assist, gear shift indicator and brake energy recuperation. As a result, fuel efficiency has been improved by 18 percent to deliver 24.52 km/l.
