A CarDekho reader has spied an export-spec Maruti Baleno with the 1.0L Boosterjet engine testing in Mumbai. It will launch in India as a sportier Maruti Baleno 'RS'; debuting the 1.0L three cylinder turbocharged 'Boosterjet' engine in the country.
In the export-spec model, the Baleno Boosterjet produces 110 hp and 170 Nm of torque in the Euro-spec model. It is paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard. The Baleno RS will be more fuel efficient than the regular Baleno petrol variant with the 1.2L K-Series N/A engine.
Previewed to the Indian public at the Auto Expo 2016, the Boosterjet variant will feature a sporty body kit featuring a mesh grille, sportier front bumper with a wider radiator intake and silver underlining, side skirts, black-painted alloy wheels, roof spoiler and a lower rear bumper.

The Baleno RS will slot into the performance-oriented premium hatchback segment, comprising of products like the Fiat Abarth Punto and the VW Polo GT TSI that are also powered by turbocharged petrol engines.
