The Mahindra Thar Signature Edition’s brochure has leaked, courtesy Facebook page AutoTech India. Last week, it’s technical service bulletin had leaked.
The Mahindra Thar Signature Edition will be available in two colours: Napoli Black and Aquamarine (new). Also called Mahindra That 700, with the 700 number denoting its limited production count, it will feature a special exterior and interior.
On the outside, the Mahindra That Signature Edition will have a Napoli Black front grille (only on specifying Aquamarine colour), D-sat silver centre metal portion of the front bumper assembly, decals on the bonnet and the sides, new 5-spoke alloy wheels and Signature badge with Anand Mahindra’s signature on the right-hand side fender.
Inside, the Thar Signature Edition will flaunt new Kolon leatherette black seats with Thar name embroidered on the backrest (driver and co-driver seat). On the safety front, it will be safer compared to the regular Thar, thanks to the inclusion of ABS, which has become mandatory from 1 April 2019. As rear parking sensors and other safety more safety equipment will be compulsory from 1 July 2019, Mahindra will likely try to sell all 700 units by the end of this month.
Mahindra will sell the Thar Signature Edition in only the CRDe variant. This means that under the hood, there will be the 2.5-litre CRDe diesel engine that produces 105 BHP at 3,800 rpm and 247 Nm of torque at 1,800-2,000 rpm. A 5-speed manual transmission and a Borgwarner transfer case will be standard.

The Mahindra Thar Signature Edition will likely cost somewhere between INR 10-11 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The regular Mahindra Thar CRDe retailed at INR 9,49,073 (ex-showroom Delhi).
