Will be powered by three-cylinder engines.
The image below gives an accurate, but early idea of what the Mahindra S101 (codename) looks like next to the Maruti Swift. When Mahindra launches the car next year, it will give indirect competition to the Swift, as the pricing of the S101 is expected in the whereabouts of INR 5 lakhs.
Measuring below 4 meters long, the S101 will have a crossover like look with an elevated seating position. To further pitch the car as a utility vehicle, engineers would give it a bench-type seating at the front which could accommodate three people (or two adults and a child).
The S101 would debut Mahindra's new modular engine family, which has been developed by the company in-house. While the range will include 1.2-, 1.5- and 1.6-liter engines, the S101 will get two three-cylinder engines in the form of a 1.2-liter petrol and 1.2-liter diesel.

Another highlight of the S101 will be its all-new monocoque chassis, which happens to be the second for the brand after the XUV500. As mentioned earlier, the S101 will compete with the Swift and Grand i10 on price.
