A TeamBHP member snapped the Mahindra Quanto facelift on test recently with an all-new front bumper and revised interiors. According to the TeamBHP report, the Quanto facelift could be badged 'Canto', and a launch is expected this year.
Codenamed U215, Mahindra will inject a new lease of life into the Quanto, which has performed poorly in the market. Taking into account sales performance over the past 6 months, Mahindra sold an average of 55 Quantos each month.
The Indian UV specialist aims to redesign the sub-4 meter Xylo with SUV styling cues, and plans on introducing an automated manual transmission (AMT) for added convenience. The grille, front bumper, hood and headlights will see significant changes, with spyshots having shown LED daytime running lights and a Scorpio-like hood scoop in addition.
Inside, this spyshot shows the Quanto facelift with a multi-function steering wheel borrowed from the Xylo. The overall build quality of the Quanto is also expected to be better on the facelift.
Mahindra is unlikely to make changes to the three-cylinder 1.5-liter diesel engine of the Quanto. With 100 bhp and 240 Nm of torque, the Quanto delivers its power to the rear wheels.
