Here's a new spy shot of the Mahindra Marazzo that will hit the domestic market on 3 September. The latest image shows a display unit on its way to a dealership and not a test prototype.
The Mahindra Marazzo is an all-new MPV that, like the Renault Lodgy, will slot between the Maruti Ertiga and Toyota Innova. It’s a lot plusher, and as per Mahindra, is lighter and quieter than rivals. Built on an all-new monocoque platform, M&M designed it with inputs from its Italian design house Pininfarina.
Mahindra has confirmed that it will sell the Marazzo in 7-seat & 8-seat versions, with the former featuring captain seats in the second row. The company has saved the specification sheet for the D-day, but it has revealed that the MPV has the largest footprint (wheelbase x front track) for any Mahindra vehicle.
The Marazzo will arrive exclusively with a diesel engine, but a petrol engine option will follow. The diesel engine, as per media reports, is an all-new 1.5-litre unit that should produce around 121 hp and 300 Nm of torque. It will come paired with a standard 6-speed manual transmission. There’s no word on an AT yet.
M&M is manufacturing the Marazzo at the Nashik plant. The company may start shipping the people mover to overseas markets sometime in 2019. Dr. Pawan Goenka, MD, Mahindra & Mahindra, has said that probably every market where it sells the XUV500 could get this model.
