The duo will enter the states next year.
In an attempt to capitalize on America's fast growing compact sportsbike market, KTM has announced that the KTM Duke 390 and RC390 will be launched in the U.S.A in 2015. Currently, India is the only production base for the high-performance single-cylinder duo.
The KTM Duke 390 will join its big brothers, the Duke 690 and Super Duke 1290 while the RC390 will play junior to the flagship RC8 R. Both motorcycles are powered by a 373.2 cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine which delivers an impressive 43.5 PS (42.9 bhp) at 9,000 rpm and 35 Nm of torque at 7,000 rpm. Transmission is a 6-speed unit.
The duo are underpinned by a tubular steel trellis frame which is equipped with a top-spec suspension system from WP (inverted fork upfront and monoshock at the rear) and Metzeler tyres.
Though a majority of its rivals will pack in parallel-twin motors, the KTM pair emerge the most powerful of the lot. Not to mention the best-in-class power-to-weight ratios.
In addition to the Duke 390 and RC390, KTM has also announced the recently unveiled 1290 Super Adventure for the US next year. The street fighter, fully faired sportbsike and the adventure tourer have Manufacturer's suggested retail prices (MSRP) of USD 4,999 (around INR 3.08 lakhs), USD 5,499 (around INR 3.39 lakhs) and USD 20,499 (around INR 12.64 lakhs) respectively.
