Fresh spy shots of the Jeep Wrangler (JL) Sahara being tested in India have surfaced online. FCA India is testing even the 2-door version of the new generation. It sells the previous generation model (JK) in only the 4-door 'Unlimited' version.
The fourth-gen Jeep Wrangler carries an evolutionary look that helps it look sufficiently modern and retains the classic theme of its predecessors with round headlamps, signature seven-slot grille, bold wheel arches, exposed door hinges and an upright, folding windscreen. The water-proof interior retains the traditional layout but offers a long list of new equipment. Key comfort and convenience features include an 8.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system, 7-inch TFT LED driver information display, 12-volt accessory outlets, 230-volt AC outlet, engine start-stop button and adjustable seat bolster and lumbar support.
The latest-gen Jeep Wrangler is available with two new engine options, which include a 2.2-litre MultiJet II turbocharged diesel motor that offers 200 PS and 450 Nm of torque and a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine that develops 272 PS and 400 Nm of torque. Both the motors come mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission and feature an idle stop-start system.
The third option is the familiar 3.6-litre Pentastar naturally-aspirated petrol mill, which is tuned to produce 284 PS and 347 Nm of torque. It is available with a 6-speed manual transmission and an 8-speed automatic transmission. The off-road-focussed lifestyle SUV is available with two 4x4 options - Command-Trac and Road-Trac, with both featuring a Selec-Trac full-time two-speed transfer case.
