Will debut in Sao Paulo in November.
The Jeep 551 has been spied yet again in Brazil, courtesy Autos Segredos. Commonly referred to as 'Jeep C-SUV', the Jeep 551 will serve as the second generation model of the Jeep Compass or Jeep Patriot.
Both, Compass and Patriot, are mechanical twins currently in their first generation. The former is targeted at a buyer looking for a more crossover-like, sophisticated appearance, while the latter is meant for those looking for a traditional Jeep SUV-like appearance. With that said, the spyshots showing a Jeep Grand Cherokee-like design suggest the Jeep 551 is more likely to be the second generation Jeep Compass.
The Jeep C-SUV will be underpinned by the Fiat 500X and the Jeep Renegade‘s small-wide front-wheel drive platform, and being one of the most globally focused Jeeps ever, be available in both left-hand drive and right-hand drive versions. A 164 hp 2.0-liter Tigershark petrol and a 170 hp 2.0-liter MultiJet II diesel are said to be the engine options, to be offered with 6-speed manual and 9-speed automatic transmissions.

Most of the Jeep 551's volume production will likely be done in Brazil. FCA will make the Jeep 551 in India also, at the Tata-Fiat JV plant in Ranjangaon, Maharashtra, starting next year. Additionally, it may be produced in China as well, for domestic sales. The new Jeep will debut at the 2016 Sao Paulo Auto Show in November.
