Classic Legends led Jawa Motorcycles have launched India’s most affordable Bobber, the Jawa Perak, at INR 1,94,500 (ex-showroom, Delhi). Bookings for the motorcycle will begin on January 1, 2020, while deliveries will begin on April 2, 2020.

Jawa Perak was originally showcased in November last year and was slated for launch for INR 1.89 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). However, the rise in cost can be attributed to the fact that the motorcycle was originally showcased as a BS-IV compliant model while the production-ready bike is BS-VI compliant.

Powering the Jawa Perak is a 334 cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, DOHC mill which is essentially a re-bored version of the 293 cc engine doing duty in the Jawa Classic and Forty Two. Also, the Perak will be BS-VI compliant from day 1 as the latest emission norms will be mandatory from April 1, 2020. Perak’s powertrain is coupled to a 6-speed gearbox and can produce 30.4 PS of power and 31 Nm of torque.

The Jawa Perak is suspended over conventional telescopic fork up front and a monoshock in the rear. A low slung, leather-wrapped single seat has been retained. It also houses the rear tail lamp. The black theme takes over the engine casing as the chassis and other cycle parts. Anchoring duties are administered by discs at both ends while adding to the safety net will be a dual-channel ABS.

Sadly though, the production model of the factory Bobber misses out on the Pirelli tyres showcased originally and comes equipped with Ceat sourced ones. The ground clearance has been pegged at 145 mm. Besides, the Jawa Perak is fitted with a tweaked chassis and a new swingarm which is claimed to ‘offer optimum transverse, longitudinal and torsional rigidity. The company also claims improved handling performance than its existing products.

Jawa Perak’s most significant feature though remains to be the signature twin exhaust coming out from the single-cylinder powerplant. The pipes have been chopped to add a classic bobber appeal.
