Born from the championship-winning FTR 750 race bike, the new FTR 1200 S has arrived in India. Indian Motorcycle has commenced the local bookings of the FTR 1200 S. In case you are wondering, the FTR stands for 'Flat Track Race' bike.
The FTR 1200 S is a flat tracker for the street and thus comes with a front disc brake, headlight, tail lamp, blinkers and rear-view mirrors.
The motorcycle will be available in two options – the FTR 1200 S and FTR 1200 S Race Replica in India. Customers can pay INR 2,00,000 at the Indian Motorcycle dealerships across the country to reserve one. The Indian FTR 1200 S and FTR 1200 S Race Replica have been priced at INR 14.99 lakh and INR 15.49 lakh (Ex-showroom) respectively.
The new FTR series is engineered with the latest technology. A powerful new liquid-cooled 1203cc V-twin, DOHC, 4-Valves per cylinder engine, which generates 120 hp of maximum power and 115.2 Nm of peak torque, propels the motorcycle. The six-speed gearbox features Assist & Slipper clutch. Stopping power comes from dual 320mm discs with 4-piston callipers at the front and a single 265mm disc with a 2-piston calliper at the rear.
At the front is a 43 mm, fully adjustable inverted telescopic cartridge forks while at the rear is a fully adjustable piggyback IFP monoshock to perform the shock absorption tasks.
The Indian FTR 1200 S and FTR 1200 S Race Replica feature sporty, upright riding position and nimble handling. The FTR 1200 S hosts premium features including Bosch stability control with a six-axis inertial sensor and selectable riding modes (Sport, Standard and Rain), all of which could be controlled via the 4.3-inch colour touchscreen dash. Other electronic features include Lean Angle Sensitive ABS, Stability, Traction and Wheelie Mitigation Control, USB Fast-Charge Port, ABS, Cruise Control. The kerb weight of the motorcycle tips the scale at 235 kg.
While the booking process has commenced, the deliveries of the Indian FTR 1200 S and FTR 1200 S Race Replica will begin from April 2019 onwards.

Indian Motorcycle’s India range includes the Chief range – Chief Classic, Chief Vintage, Chieftain, and Chief Dark Horse.
