As also seen in revealing spyshots, the styling of the new Jeep Compass borrows many cues from the bigger Jeep Grand Cherokee. The front-end features the characteristic grille flanked by small projector headlamps with LED DRLs, a Grand Cherokee-inspired bumper design, and a contoured engine hood. The profile has a strong shoulder line running across and bold chrome window lining that flows into the rear windshield. At the back, it features wraparound LED taillamps, chrome-finished twin exhaust pipes and a roof spoiler.

One of the images reveal the off-road focused Jeep Compass Trailhawk variant, which features red tow hooks, Wrangler Rubicon-style black alloy rims and contrasting black hood decal. The suspension has been raised by 20 mm and it also features extra plates for under body protection.

Inside, the new Jeep Compass features a design inspired by the Cherokee. It is claimed to be trimmed with premium materials with a distinct finish. It uses a mix of gloss black, chrome and matte silver trim to bestow a premium look to the cabin. Some of the features are an 8.4 inch UConnect touchscreen system, configurable TFT screen in instrument cluster, keyless entry with start/stop button and Beats 9-speaker audio system with subwoofer.

In a press release, Jeep has confirmed that the Compass will be produced in 17 different engine and gearbox combinations, which will include a range of petrol and diesel units sourced from the Renegade. For the Brazil-spec Compass, Jeep will offer the option between a 2.0L Tigershark Flex with a 6-speed AT and 2.0L Multijet II diesel with a 9-speed AT. The diesel variant is exclusively equipped with Jeep's 4WD Active Drive Low system.
