The next generation Hyundai Genesis would be the South Korean automaker's halo car, the one that will attempt to take the brand closer to the world of sports cars.
Here are the official images of the Hyundai HND-9 concept that previews the second generation Genesis Coupe. The concept is set to be unveiled at the Seoul Motor Show which opens the doors next week.
The Hyundai HND-9 is powered by a 3.3 litre direct injection turbocharged petrol engine which has 370 PS on offer. The engine would be coupled with an automatic transmission which sends power to the rear wheels, providing an indulging driving experience. Good!
Hyundai says "the HND-9 with its dramatic long hood and wheelbase, is a modern reinterpretation of the elegant image of a classic premium sports coupe." The sharply styled coupe was designed by Hyundai's Namyang Design center and hence the name HND-9.
The concept looks nothing like an existing Hyundai. The front fascia has a slight resemblance to the super exclusive Aston Martin One-77. The coupe boasts scissor doors, Hyundai would get brownie points if the doors are retained in the production version as well. The fastback like rear is characterized by razor sharp tail lamps and a sculpted rear fender that gives a muscular appeal to the car.
The next gen Hyundai Genesis Coupe is expected to hit the market sometime in 2016.
