Here are a couple of spyshots of the upcoming Hyundai Grand i10 Sedan, courtesy of Team BHP.
As we mentioned in our previous story, Hyundai India is gearing up to launch the compact sedan on February 4th, a day ahead of the 2014 Indian Auto Expo.
The compact sedan segment, consisting of the Honda Amaze and the Maruti Dzire is witnessing brisk sales with Maruti having sold 182,890 units of the Dzire from January to November this year.
Launched in April this year, Honda has sold 55,003 copies of the Amaze until November, and both, the Honda and the Maruti, feature in the Top 10 sales chart every month. Needless to say, Hyundai hopes to grab a significant market share with the Grand i10 based sedan.
Built on the BA platform underpinning the Grand i10, the sedan will share engines and gearboxes with the hatchback. The petrol engine is a 1.2-liter four-cylinder with Hyundai's Dual VTVT technology. It produces 83 PS at 6,000 rpm and 11.6 kgm of torque at 4,000 rpm, and comes mated to a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic transmission.
The diesel engine is a three-cylinder, 1.1-liter motor producing 71 PS at 4,000 rpm and 16.3 kgm of torque between 1,500-2,750 rpm. Hyundai offers only a 5-speed manual gearbox with this engine.
