Launch expected next month.
Seen here are more spyshots of the Hyundai Elite i20 Cross, testing off-the-road in Chennai. As reported earlier, the i20 Cross will launch in India next month, to rival cars such as the VW Cross Polo, Toyota Etios Cross and Fiat Avventura.
In these spyshots, the i20 Cross features projector headlights, LED daytime running lights, different alloy wheels, roof rails, and notably, higher ground clearance. Sources in Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) told Indian Autos Blog that the car will indeed get higher ground clearance with a revised suspension system.
Powering the i20 Cross will be the same 1.2-liter VTVT petrol and 1.4-liter CRDi diesel engine found on the Elite i20. These units are unlikely to offer higher power or torque in the i20 Cross, a source said. The petrol will be paired to a 5-speed manual while the diesel gets a 6-speed manual transmission.

HMIL will choose to keep the 'i20' name, but will add a suitable prefix/suffix to connote the car's adventurous and bold design. Apart from India, other markets which sell the Elite i20 are likely to get the Cross as well.
Competitors: Fiat Avventura, Toyota Etios Cross, VW Cross Polo
Expected Price: INR 6.5-8 lakhs, ex-Showroom
Launch date: March 9, 2015 (reported)
