New record high for the company.
Hyundai Motor India Ltd. (HMIL) has announced that it has received over 15,300 bookings and 79,200 enquiries for the Elite i20 over the past 20 days. The hatchback was launched on August 11. This is a record high for the company which previously received 10,000 bookings in 20 days for the Grand i10 and 11,000 bookings in 30 days for the Xcent compact sedan.
Mr. Rakesh Srivastava, Sr. Vice President, Sales & Marketing, HMIL, said that the company was working on increasing production of the car to reduce the waiting period.
HMIL sold 33,750 units in the domestic market last month, posting an increase of 19.2 percent compared to August 2013 when it sold 28,311 units. However, exports reduced by 40.2 percent to 14,361 units, chiefly as now both i20 and i10 are made in Europe for Europe.
