The Hyundai Grand i10 was launched in India on September 3rd and was positioned between the i10 and the i20. Today, Hyundai India inform us that within 20 days of the launch, the company has received 10,000 bookings for the hatchback.
The numbers released by Hyundai India are certainly positive at a time when car sales have slowed down considerably. The company says that apart from the 10,000 bookings, over 110,000 enquiries were made along with 70,000 test drives. Hyundai dealerships have seen their footfalls increase by 55%.
Hyundai India launched the Grand i10 with a petrol and a diesel engine. While the petrol is the familiar 1.2-liter Kappa2 with variable-valve timing, the diesel is a three-cylinder version of the 1.4 CRDi used in the i20. To better differentiate the Grand i10 from the regular i10, Hyundai India discontinued the 1.2-liter i10 yesterday.
Mr. Rakesh Srivastava, Senior Vice President, Sales & Marketing, Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) said -
