Automatic variants expected to account for 30% of Creta's sales.
Speaking to Financial Express, a Hyundai spokesperson has divulged that the company is planning to introduce petrol automatic variants of the Hyundai Creta and Hyundai Elite i20 soon.
Currently, an automatic gearbox is only available for the Hyundai Creta 1.6 CRDi SX+, which accounts for 18 percent of the local demand. A petrol automatic variant of the Creta is expected to be INR 1.5 Lakhs cheaper, and could be appealing to customers looking for hassle-free drivability, with limited running requirements. Both, the diesel and petrol automatic variants are expected to account for 30% of Creta's sales.
The Hyundai spokesperson also confirmed that they'll stick to the regular planetary automatic gearbox, rather than introduce an automated manual transmission like the ones offered by Maruti, Tata and Renault, which the company finds to be a "transient technology".
