The Hornet 160R has a marginally bigger engine which delivers a slightly higher performance on paper. Having the smallest engine, the Yamaha FZ-S has the lowest power and torque in this comparison. Both the Hornet's competitors deliver their maximum power at 8,000 rpm and their peak torque at 6,000 rpm, while the 160R achieves both 500 rpm later.

The FZ-S is the only model here to be equipped with a Fuel Injection system, while the rest use the traditional carburettor. The Hornet 160R's engine is the only unit in its segment that complies with the BS-IV norms, and it gets a counter balancer for lesser vibration.
