Honda CB Hornet 160R launched at INR 79,900 - IAB Report

Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India has launched the Honda CB Hornet 160R, priced from INR 79,900 (ex-showroom, New Delhi). It is touted as a more premium model compared to the Honda CB Unicorn 160 which has lent the diamond frame and powertrain to the newcomer.

The Honda CB Hornet 160R is offered in two variants and five colours.

Rivaling the Yamaha FZ-S FI (Version 2.0) and the Suzuki Gixxer 155, the Hornet 160R is powered by a 162.71 cc air-cooled single-cylinder engine with a carburetor and a counter balancer, that is tuned to produce 15.88 PS of maximum power at 8,500 rpm and 14.76 Nm of peak torque at 6,500 rpm. It is paired with a five-speed gearbox. The revised engine of the Unicorn 160 makes the Hornet 160R the first model in its segment to comply with the BS-IV norms which is mandatory for all vehicles in India from April 2017.

The CB Hornet 160R is characterized by a halogen headlamp, clear lens turn indicators, a traditional handle bar, a fully digital instrument cluster that includes a speedometer, a tachometer, a fuel gauge, an odometer, a trip meter and a clock, a muscular fuel tank with shrouds on either side, a stout silencer with a black tip, split grab handles, an X-shaped LED taillamp, and black coloured five-split spoke alloy wheels.

The technical specifications of the Hornet 160R include an overall length of 2,041 mm, width of 783 mm, height of 1,067 mm, wheelbase of 1,345 mm, ground clearance of 164 mm, kerb weight of 140 kg (drum brake variant) and 142 kg (CBS model), a fuel tank capacity of 12 litres, a maximum speed of 110 km/h and a 12V 4Ah MF battery.

Honda has launched an exclusive smartphone app on Google PlayStore for booking the Hornet 160R.

The equipment list includes a 12 V 35/35 W headlamp, a standard fork, a monoshock, a 276 mm disc brake upfront with a triple-pot Nissin caliper, a 220 mm disc brake with a single-pot Nissin caliper at the rear in the CBS variant and a 130 mm drum brake in case of the standard model, a 100/80-17 front tyre and a 140/70-17 rear tyre (both are MRF Zapper FYM.

The CB Hornet 160R is available in five colours - Pearl Night Star Black, Pearl Siren Blue, Neo Orange Metallic, Sports Red, and Pearl Amazing White.
