Honda Cars India will roll out the 100,000th Amaze (for the domestic market) "anytime now", Mr. Jnaneswar Sen, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing, told Indian Autos Blog at the launch of the Honda Mobilio yesterday.
The roll out of the milestone car is likely to take place later this month or early next month, making it one of the most accomplished launches in the last 24 months, as it joins the Renault Duster and Hyundai Grand i10 in the six-figure sales club.
The Honda Amaze was launched in India in April 2013. Based on the Brio's platform, the compact sedan debuted the 1.5-liter four-cylinder i-DTEC diesel engine in India, which is now seen on the City and Mobilio, and going further will be available on the Jazz also. An anniversary edition was launched in April this year to celebrate the car's first birthday.
The Amaze is made at Honda's Greater Noida plant, and since February this year, the car is made at the company's Tapukara plant in Rajasthan as well. In fact, the Amaze is the only car currently to be made at the Rajasthan plant.
Apart from catering to domestic demand, Honda Cars India also exports the Amaze to markets like Nepal, Brunei and South Africa. In South Africa and Thailand, the car is called Brio Sedan and Brio Amaze respectively.
