Honda 2Wheelers crosses the 4 crore sales milestone; scooters take up 2.5 crore units

Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India has crossed the 40 million cumulative two-wheeler sales milestone. Honda is the only two-wheeler brand in India to cross this mark in a time span of just 18 years.

The Indian arm of the Japanese two-wheeler brand gained its first 10 million customers in 11 years. The next 10 million customers were added in three years. Honda staggeringly doubled that number in the next four years.

Speaking about the rollout of the milestone 40th Million two-wheeler, Yadvinder Singh Guleria, Senior Vice President - Sales & Marketing, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India said:

Last month, Honda announced that it has crossed a sales milestone of 25 million scooters in India. Honda’s scooter portfolio consists the Activa, Dio, Cliq, and the Grazia. As of November, Honda Motorcycle and Scooters India had a scooter market share of 57 per cent in the country. Meanwhile, the CB Shine leads the motorcycle business of the two-wheeler brand. The motorcycle brand crossed the 70 lakh (7 million) sales mark in October. Honda claims that every second 125cc bike sold in India is a CB Shine.

Honda 2Wheelers India’s rapid growth has propelled it to become the No. 1 contributor to Honda’s global two-wheeler operations across 120 countries. In the pipeline is yet another 6 lakh capacity addition which will take Honda 2Wheelers India’s total capacity to 70 lakh units annually by 2020.
