Likely to be powered by 1.5-liter petrol and diesel engines.
According to import-export website, Zauba.com, Honda has imported three units of a 'Brio SUV' with a codename '2SJ' from Thailand. The prototypes were imported into Delhi, where Honda Cars India will soon inaugurate its new R&D Center, in Greater Noida.
The compact SUV, according to previous reports, will not subscribe to the sub-4 meter body length. Instead, it will take on larger compact SUVs such as the Renault Duster, Nissan Terrano and the forthcoming Hyundai Creta. One report even speculates the Honda 2SJ to come with seating for 7 occupants.
The 2SJ, like the Mobilio, will be powered by a 1.5-liter i-VTEC petrol and a 1.5-liter i-DTEC diesel engine. Unlike the Mobilio though, which has received flak for its built-to-cost interior, Honda plans on redesigning the interior for a more upmarket look.
On the outside, the Honda 2SJ is expected to have large wheel arches with thick body cladding and suitable ground clearance. It is unlikely to use the Brio-inspired front fascia seen on the Amaze and Mobilio.
