Hero MotoCorp’s next big launch is expected to be the Hero Xtreme 200S.
A report on Bikewale reveals that the Hero MotoCorp is working on a navigation system for two-wheelers. Unlike a proper navigation system with maps in a car’s infotainment display, this one will be a rather basic version.
The report adds that the system will use elementary arrows to indicate turns and straight lines for riding straight. This plain-sailing navigation uses a smartphone’s GPS and a version of maps using Bluetooth.
Hero MotoCorp is at present busy updating its line-up to meet the BSIV emission norms which will be compulsory for all manufacturers from April 1, 2017. Hero showcased the Hero Xtreme 200S at the 2016 Auto Expo, which is expected as the company's next launch in the premium segment. It will be powered by a 200 cc air-cooled, single cylinder mill coupled to a 5-speed gearbox. The engine is capable of producing 18.6 PS of maximum power at 8,500 rpm and 17.2 Nm of peak torque at 6,000 rpm.
The navigation system though is still some time away and a prototype can be expected to be showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo. Inclusion in series production motorcycles and scooters may not be expected until next year.
