The most powerful Hero motorcycle to go on sale.
Zigwheels reports that, according to its sources, the Hero HX250 flagship motorcycle which was unveiled at the Auto Expo earlier this year will be launched by November this year
The quarter-litre sportsbike has been developed by Hero Motocorp in association with its technical partner EBR (Erik Buell Racing). Inputs for powertrain developments came from AVL Austria and Engines Engineering.
Powered by a 249 cc single cylinder fuel injected engine, the HX250 will be the most powerful motorcycle to go on sale in the company's history. The oil cooled motor develops 31 bhp and 26 Nm of torque and comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox which is a first for Hero Motocorp. Though the bike has an imposing stance, it tips the scales at 139 kg which should make for a sprightly performance.
The bike is held together by a geodesic tubular frame and the design highlights include twin headlamps, a full fairing, split seats, aluminium foot rest mounts and an underseat exhaust. The front and rear disc brakes are connected by a combined braking system which is also available with optional ABS.
Hero Motocorp has appointed a former BMW engineer as its new R&D boss to boost its product development capabilities.
