Will be developed for international markets as well.
ET Auto reports that the fourth generation Mahindra Scorpio (codenamed Mahindra Z101) will launch in India in 2020, and exported to international markets for sale.
The report states that the next generation Scorpio will be based on an updated ladder-frame platform of the current model. The task of conceptualising the new Scorpio will be tasked to by Mahindra's North American Technical Center, while the engineering, integration and testing will be handled by the R&D centre in Mahindra Research Valley, Chennai. It is said to be developed with international markets in mind, so expect a contemporary exterior styling and advanced telematics and safety features.
Like the current Scorpio, the next-gen version will spawn a pick-up truck that will mainly target the North American market, where this body type is the most popular in the world. Expect both diesel and petrol 4-cyl engines to be in the mix with manual or automatic transmissions. A 4WD system with terrain modes could also be developed for the new Scorpio, and so could an electric variant with technology from the Mahindra Electric division.

This is the second project that Mahindra's North American Technical Center is working on, first being the Innova-rivaling MPV (codenamed U321). The same centre is also rumoured to be working on an off-roader which could be related to the next-gen Mahindra Thar.
