Expected to launch in 2018.
According to many reports, the new Ssangyong Rexton which was unveiled in Seoul last month will go on sale in India as a Mahindra next year. Based on the Rexton, IAB's Shoeb R Kalania has created a rendering of the Mahindra XUV700 (name unconfirmed) through swapping the grille and badges.
The XUV700 will be Mahindra's take on the popular ladder-frame based SUV's priced north of INR 20 lakhs such as the Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavor and the Isuzu MU-X. If the XUV700's exterior mirrors that of the Rexton, it will measure 4,850 mm long, 1,920 mm wide, 1,800 mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2,865 mm.
The XUV700 will probably have Mahindra's most advanced and luxurious cabin yet. The Rexton showcased had a dual-tone black and tan interior dashboard leather upholstery with piano black, wood and chrome detailing, and housing a 9.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system with GPS-guided navigation, Apple Carplay and Android Auto connectivity. Also available is third-row seating.
The XUV700 will likely pack a 2.2L 4-cyl turbodiesel engine that produces 184 hp and 420Nm of torque, paired with a 6-speed manual or 7-speed automatic, while a 2.0L GDI turbocharged petrol engine could be in the cards.
