Ford has started working on a new global B-SUV, which will replace the EcoSport or arrive as the next-gen EcoSport. IAB’s illustrator Shoeb Kalania has created a rendering of the future small SUV to preview its expected design.
The Ford EcoSport successor has a rounded design with lots of curves all around. The front-end is slightly reminiscent of the Ford Fiesta, particularly because of the design of the swept-back headlamps. A large trapezoidal grille in black dominates the face. The Blue Oval, as in the case of the Fiesta and Focus, is above the grille. C-shaped cuts in the bumper with round fog lamp housing set inside might remind one of the Ford Ka+/FordFigo and the Ford Ka+ Active/Ford Freestyle/Ford Ka Freestyle.
On the sides, flared wheel arches and black cladding in the lower body enhance the SUV’s ruggedness. The beltline swiftly rises up from the middle of the rear window and the large windows ensure that the occupants get maximum view of the surroundings. The mellow design of the sides is a reflection of the modest nature of the high-riding urban soft-roader.
Little is known about the specifications of the Ford EcoSport successor. However, one can certainly expect the familiar 125 PS 1.0-litre EcoBoost petrol and 120 PS 1.5-litre TDCi diesel engines, 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmissions and an optional all-wheel drive system in the Renault Captur rival.
