Testing of the Ford EcoSport near the Bahia plant where it will be manufactured later this year continues as India waits expectantly for its first global mini SUV. Two test mules were spotted, a top-end model with alloy wheels and a lower variant with steel wheels.

Ford will experiment with the Ecoboost petrol engine for the first time in the diesel-driven Indian market. They are likely to price it to overlap some variants of the Fiesta. Similar to the Figo's business plan, Ford may export the EcoSport to many global markets once its has found its footing in the domestic circuit.
The EcoSport is codenamed B515 and is built on the Fiesta platform. Ford has not provided photographs or details of the car's interiors but a resemblance to the Geneva-premiere B-Max is expected. The EcoSport looks to build on the success of the Figo-based predecessor which has been a strong seller for Ford Brazil since the mid 2000's.
