The DC Avanti was spotted on test in Chennai recently by Indian Autos Blog reader Jahnavee. While the company is carrying out final tests of the sportscar pan India, it still remains unclear as to when customer deliveries will begin.
DC Design showcased the production-ready sportscar at the Auto Expo earlier this year. Compared to the concept, the production Avanti sees minor design changes to exterior, frame and interior. The coupe is powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine (a Ford EcoBoost unit).
The motor is claimed to make 250 bhp and 360 Nm of torque, and transfers drive to the rear wheels via a 6-speed manual transmission. The company claims the Avanti will do 0-100 km/h in 6 seconds and hit a top-speed of 180 km/h. The sportscar weighs 1,580 kg and has a ground clearance of 170 mm, well adapted for Indian roads.
The Avanti will be fabricated at DC's Talegaon plant near Pune, Maharashtra and about 100 units of the car will be made each month. The initial 25 cars will cost INR 25 lakhs, and subsequently the price will be revised to INR 30 lakhs.
