Datsun redi-GO updated with new safety tech, prices hiked

Datsun has updated the redi-GO with new safety features to make it compliant to AIS-145 safety norms. The new model's prices start at INR 2.79 lakh* and go up to INR 4.37 lakh* now. The base variant of the car is now costlier by INR 12,000 due to the new additions.

The Datsun redi-GO comes with many standard safety features such as driver airbag, rear parking assist sensor, high-speed warning and seat belt reminder for driver and front passenger now. Only a few months back, ABS with EBD was made standard in the car.

The lower T and S trims of the Datsun redi-GO now comes with central locking with remote lock, while the A trim has gained power steering. The engine options still include a 0.8-litre petrol engine which generates 53 PS and 72 Nm of peak torque and comes paired with a 5-speed MT, and a 1.0-litre petrol engine which delivers 67 PS and 91 Nm of peak torque and works in conjunction with a 5-speed MT or a 5-speed AMT unit. The claimed fuel efficiency of these engines is 22.7 km/l and 22.5 km/l respectively.

The Datsun redi-GO is now compliant to the AIS-145 safety norms, but it will likely need to be reupdated for the BNVSAP safety norms which will kick in on 1 October 2019.
