Second Datsun model for Russia.
The Datsun mi-DO hatchback, which is all set to make its premiere at the Moscow International Auto Salon 2014 tomorrow (August 27), has been teased.
The teaser shows the grille, bonnet and headlamps partially. While the front fascia can be instantly recognized as a Datsun, the headlamps and bonnet have a sleeker appeal to them compared to the Datsun on-DO sedan. Previous spyshots fully revealed the hatchback.
Both cars are rebadged Ladas. While the on-Do derived its roots from the Lada Granta, the mi-DO is based on the Lada Kalina. The Datsun duo are made at AvtoVAZ's Tolyatti plant which also manufactures the donor models.
The mi-DO which has been spotted testing in Russia several times is expected to borrow its powertrain options from its sedan sibling. The 1.6-litre petrol engine is capable of 87 PS (85.3 bhp) and is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission.
