Will be launched in Thailand on July 17.
Pictures of the 'Keyless Smart Entry' of the 2016 Toyota Fortuner have surfaced ahead of the car's launch in Thailand this week.
The keyfob is seen with buttons for door lock, door unlock and boot open. New photographs posted on the New Fortuner Club Thailand confirm what we already know - the cabin is draped in brown leather with white stitching on the dashboard, handbrake lever, center armrest and door boards.
The front seats provide extra side bolstering, the second row seat is 40:20:40 split, and the cabin follows a black and brown scheme.
Further images show the door handles finished in chrome, the leaf-shaped mirror caps hosting indicators, the wipers of the beam blade type, and the foot step neatly recessed.
Based on a new ladder-frame platform, the 2016 Toyota Fortuner is designed to be more car-like. It sports copybook crossover styling with a floating-roof and rounded edges, a huge departure from the intimidating and brawny demeanor that it currently takes on.
The 2016 Fortuner gets powered by the new 2.4- and 2.8-liter four-cylinder GD diesel engines paired to 6-speed manual and automatic gearboxes. A 2.7-liter VVT-i petrol will also be listed, the engine that's carried over from the first-gen Fortuner. The diesel engines are expected to return 10 percent higher fuel efficiency than the KD-Series Fortuner that are driven by 2.5- and 3.0-liter D4-D engines.
If Thai reports are right, the Toyota Fortuner will be launched with two diesel engines and one petrol unit strapped on four variants. The diesel variants would be the 2.4G 4x2 6MT, 2.4V 4x2 6AT, 2.8V 4x2 6AT, 2.8V 4x4 6AT, while the only petrol variant is the 2.7V 4x2 6AT.
Features on the 2016 Fortuner, reported and sighted, are a Smart Key System with Keyless Entry, push-button starter, knee airbags, ABS+EBD, Brake Assist (BA), Vehicle Stability Control system (VSC), and Hill Assist Control. The center console, though Hilux-based, is redesigned for the Fortuner with a touch-screen display.

The Indian market launch of the new Fortuner is expected during the next financial year, though TKM (Toyota Kirloskar Motor) could preview the SUV at the Auto Expo in February 2016.
