Our good friends at Motorbeam.com are reporting something interesting about the Sail U-VA. They have blogged that the Chevrolet Sail U-VA would launch in India on October 25th.
Mr. P. Balendran, Vice President, General Motors India, had earlier told IndianAutosBlog.com that the Sail was destined to launch "sometime end of October" and reiterated that the vehicle will come in petrol and diesel options.
The Chevrolet Sail U-VA replaces the Aveo U-VA that failed to make a difference to GM, suffering from the absence of diesel technology that 8/10 customers in this category opt for. The Sail U-VA fights for the number 1 spot with the Swift and Ritz. It is powered by the same Fiat-derived 1.3L diesel engine (78PS/205Nm) and 1.2L petrol engine (86PS/113Nm).
GM is intensifying the war on hatchbacks with the relaunch of the Spark facelift on the 15th of this month, which is the eve of the Alto 800's launch, perceived to be a market leader in the future.
According to Motorbeam, the Sail U-VA will arrive in 4 variants – PS, LS, LT and LT (O).
Meanwhile our readers Vinod Jain and Arpit Jain spotted a duct-taped white Chevrolet Sail U-VA test mule near a market. Vinod's pictures show a high-end model sporting foglights, body colored fittings and chrome lines around the grille area.
