The Jawa Classic and Forty-Two received a positive response in the Indian market. In fact, the motorcycles are sold out until September 2019. Online bookings for the Jawa and Jawa Forty-Two are closed while dealerships continue to take reservations for deliveries beyond September.

The Perak bobber will join the list soon, but we were interested in something more retro – a cafe racer. While there is no announcement from Classic Legends about the possibility of a Jawa branded cafe racer, we asked our in-house render artist to create one based on the Forty-Two.

The IAB render of the Jawa Forty-Two cafe racer is more than just an added fairing to the standard motorcycle. The cafe-racer is imagined with same underpinnings but different styling. For starters, the fascia gets a retro-styled fairing for improved aerodynamics. The clean design that has been achieved with the use of bar-end mounted rear-view mirrors. The round shape of the mirrors enhances the retro look of the motorcycle. The stock handlebar has been traded for a clip-on style unit for cafe racer-like ergonomics.

A fuel tank that sheds the round shape of the stock motorcycle for flatter sides follows the cockpit. While the shape of the tank has been revised in the render, the chrome fuel filler cover is retained. The new saddle in the render features a rider-only space. The leather seat cover with diamond style stitching adds a premium look to the package. The pillion seat has been removed, and a cafe racer style cowl occupies the space. The compact fender completes the rear of the motorcycle.

Hardware specifications continue to feature the same parts as the standard motorcycle. Thus, you would find conventional telescopic forks at the front and twin-sided, gas-charged rear shock absorbers performing the suspension tasks. Braking power comes from a disc at the front and a drum unit at the rear while the safety net includes a single-channel ABS. A cafe racer is designed to go around bends, and thus the render is imagined with road-spec, soft compound tyres. The wire-spoke design continues to lend the retro look.
