The second generation BMW X1 is now available in India with a petrol engine too, in the sDrive20i model that costs INR 37.50 lakh. This petrol engine complies with the BSVI emission norms that will become effective in April 2020.
Powering the BMW X1 sDrive20i is a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine that outputs a maximum power of 189 bhp @ 5,000 rpm and a peak torque of 280 Nm @ 1,350-4,600 rpm. The motor comes mated to a 7-speed Steptronic sport-automatic dual-clutch transmission. 'sDrive' is BMW speak for two-wheel drive, and so, drive goes solely to the front wheels in this configuration. The petrol engine model can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.6 seconds and reach a top speed of 224 km/h.
Available in only the xLine trim, the petrol-powered BMW X1 has been kitted out with a panoramic sunroof and 18-inch Y-spoke alloy wheels. Other features include orange-white ambient lighting, Servotronic speed-sensitive steering assistance, 6.5-inch touchscreen for iDrive infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay support, park distance control, BMW apps, Bluetooth and USB connectivity. Safety features include six airbags, ABS, Brake Assist, Dynamic Stability (DSC) with Dynamic Traction Control (DTC), Cornering Brake Control (CBC), Hill Descent Control (HDC), Side-impact Protection and more.
Colour options for the entire BMW X1 range in India include - Alpine White (non-metallic), Black Sapphire, Mediterranean Blue and Sparkling Brown. Upholstery options include Sensatec Oyster and Black, Sensatec Black and Black.

The diesel engine variant of the BMW X1 employs a 2.0-litre engine that produces a maximum power of 190 bhp @ 4,000 rpm and a peak torque of 400 Nm @ 1,750 - 2,500 rpm. This engine comes mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. AWD is optional. Prices of the most affordable SAV in the company's lineup start at INR 34.5 lakhs* and go all the way to INR 44.5 lakhs*.
