Available in two body colours.
BMW India has launched the BMW X1 M Sport at INR 37.9 lakhs (ex-showroom Thane). This is now the only variant of the X1 crossover available in India.
The regular BMW X1 was launched in India in 2011, after which it received a model year update in 2013. The M Sport package is a perceived facelift, as the sDrive20d M Sport is essentially the same X1 that had been on sale in the country, with cosmetic upgrades on the exterior as well as the interior.
The M Sport package gives the current generation X1 18-inch alloy wheels, new front and rear bumpers, an M steering wheel wrapped in leather and some subtle sporty touches. The car is available in two colours, Alpine White and Le Mans Blue.
There is no mechanical change in the X1 sDrive20d M Sport variant. It is powered by the same 2.0-litre diesel engine that produces 184 PS maximum power at 4,000 rpm and 380 Nm peak torque at 1,750 - 2,750 rpm. The motor is paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission.
This version of the X1 crossover is likely to be the last update the current generation model will receive in India, before it is replaced with the next generation X1 possibly in 2016. The BMW X1 sDrive20d M Sport is the third model in the Indian M Sport line-up, after 530d M Sport and the X3 M Sport.
