BMWBlog.com has reported that the facelifted version of the BMW X1, BMW India's best selling model, will be presented with a facelift at the New York Auto Show early next month. The unveiling also marks the entry of the X1 into the American market. Based on the 3 Series, the BMW X1 was introduced back in 2009 and its Indian debut was held at the Auto Expo 2010.
Earlier this year, we showed you some spyshots of this model testing in other parts of the world, and Shoeb provided a speculative rendering with mild cosmetic changes to the car's front. The sheet metal panels are not likely to be redesigned.
The headlamps, foglights and front bumper will get a nip/tuck while some parts of the interior could be redesigned. Expect no changes under the bonnet.
BMW is likely to introduce the X1 facelift in India later this year or in early 2013, right after the Audi Q3 assembles at the starting line. Mercedes Benz is also working on a baby crossover using the A-Class platform which we expect to join the party in the next two years.
