At the 2018 Auto Expo earlier this year in February, the BMW 6-Series GT was launched but only in petrol guise. Now, BMW India has launched the diesel variant of the 6-Series Gran Turismo. The BMW 6-Series Gran Turismo diesel has gone on sale at a starting price of INR 66.50 lakhs (ex-showroom).
The BMW 6-Series GT diesel is powered by a 3.0 L 6-cylinder engine developing 265 hp at 4,000 rpm and 620 Nm at 2,000 - 2,500 rpm. It pairs with an 8-speed automatic transmission. The diesel variant has a 0-100 km/h time of 6.1 seconds. BMW offers the 6 GT with an adaptive air suspension as well.
There are two grades of the 6-Series GT diesel available in India - Luxury Line and M Sport. The M Sport grade is new to the 6 GT and brings with it an M Sport Package, which includes grille with a black high-gloss finish, key fob with exclusive M logo, M door sill finishers with illumination, M Aerodynamics package with front apron, side skirts and rear apron with diffuser insert in Dark Shadow metallic, M Sport brake with brake callipers in Dark Blue metallic and M logo, trapezoidal chrome exhaust tip, and M badges, and 19-inch alloy wheels.
It also gets an M steering wheel and additional features over Luxury Line like electrical adjustment of the upper section of the backrest, backrest width and thigh rest, comfort headrests for driver and front passenger, memory function for driver and front passenger, lumbar support for driver and front passenger seats. The upholstery and exterior colour options are different as well.
Key features of the BMW 6-Series Gran Turismo include active rear spoiler, LED headlights, fog lights, and tail lights, frameless doors, and BMW display key that enable remote parking. It comes with BMW's iDrive infotainment suite supported by a 10.25-inch touchscreen display with gesture control support. A 16-speaker Harmon Kardon sound system is offered as standard. Rear seat occupants get individual 10.2-inch screen with BluRay and USB support. Driver and front passenger airbags, side airbags for driver and front passenger and head airbags front and rear, ABS with BA, Attentiveness Assistant, Cornering Brake Control, and Dynamic Stability Control with Dynamic Traction Control are some of the safety features on offer.
