BMW 6-Series Gran Turismo M Sport - Motorshow Focus

The BMW 6-Series Gran Turismo was showcased at the recently held Autocar Performance Show 2018. On sale in a price bracket of INR 61.80 lakh to INR 73.7 lakh (ex-showroom, Pan-India), the Sportback-style model launched at the Auto Expo in February 2018.

The 6-Series GT is available with 3.0-litre straight-six diesel and a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engines in India.

Speaking on the aesthetics of the BMW 6-Series Gran Turismo, Adrian van Hooydonk, Senior Vice President BMW Group Design, has said-

The new BMW 6-Series Gran Turismo is geared towards discerning customers who place great importance on individuality. It is an eye-catching statement, packaged into a flowing, sculptural design language which gives the car a modern and sporty feel. The raised seating position ensures an imperious brand of driving a pleasure, and the luxurious levels of space provide everything you need for a relaxing journey.

While the BMW 6-Series Gran Turismo launched exclusively with a petrol engine variant, a diesel motor was introduced in June 2018. The oil-burner is a 3.0-litre straight-six that outputs 265 hp and 620 Nm. The petrol variant draws power from a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged engine that produces 255 hp and 400 Nm. Both the motors come mated to 8-speed automatic transmissions.

Three grades are on offer - Sport Line, Luxury Line, and M Sport. The first is available exclusively with the petrol engine, while the rest are available with the diesel motor. The car presented at APS 2018 boasted M Sport trim. It gets several exclusive bits, including -

  • Sportier grille with a black high-gloss finish
  • Key fob with exclusive M logo
  • M door sill finishers with illumination
  • M Aerodynamics package with a front apron
  • Side skirts
  • Rear apron with diffuser insert in Dark Shadow metallic
  • M Sport brake callipers painted in Dark Blue metallic
  • Trapezoidal chrome exhaust tips
  • 19-inch alloy wheels

BMW 6-Series Gran Turismo M Sport
Compared to its predecessor, the BMW 5-Series Gran Turismo, the 6 GT offers an increased length of 87 mm (overall length - 5,091 mm), same width of 1,902 millimetres and a 21 mm reduction in height (overall height - 1,538 millimetres).

Furthermore, it features an M steering wheel, electrical-adjustment for the upper section of the seat backrest, backrest width and thigh rest adjustment, comfort headrests, lumbar support adjustment and memory function for front seats, and exclusive exterior and interior colour options.
