BMW is displaying the BMW 5 Series Touring at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show. Here are the live images of the 5 Series' estate version from the show.
The BMW 5 Series Touring features an active air stream kidney grille flanked by adaptive LED headlights with selective beam (optional). Compared to the previous generation model, the car’s exterior dimensions have grown by 36 mm to 4,943 mm in length; by 8 mm to 1,868 mm in width; and by 10 mm to 1,498 mm in height. The wheelbase, at 2,975 mm, is 7 mm longer. The new generation 5 Series Touring is up to 100 kg lighter on an average.
Coming to the interior, the 5 Series Touring is equipped with BMW iDrive, including touch controller and a 10.25-inch touchscreen; tile-look menu display, BMW gesture control and voice commands. It also features wireless smartphone integration via Bluetooth and inductive charging; Apple CarPlay and WiFi hotspot for up to 10 devices.
The BMW 5 Series Touring has a variety of petrol and diesel engine options. The 530i Touring gets a 4-cylinder petrol engine with 8-speed Steptronic transmission. The engine generates 252 PS and 350 Nm. The BMW 540i xDrive Touring employs a 6-cylinder in-line petrol engine with 8-speed Steptronic transmission. Output stands at 340 PS and 450 Nm. Among the diesel versions, the BMW 520d Touring features a 4-cylinder diesel engine with 6-speed manual gearbox and an optional 8-speed Steptronic transmission. Rated output are 190 PS and 400 Nm. The BMW 530d Touring and the 530d xDrive Touring use a 6-cylinder inline diesel mill with 8-speed Steptronic transmission. This engine produces 265 PS and 620 Nm.
Collision Warning and Pedestrian Warning with City Braking function; Crossing traffic warning and Priority warning; Lane Change Assistant and Lane keeping assistant with active side collision protection and evasion aid are some of key safety and driver assistance features of the 2017 BMW 5 Series Touring. The all-new premium executive estate is priced from €48,600 in Germany.
