The first pictures of the BMW 4 Series convertible have leaked online, ahead of its rumored world premiere at the LA Auto Show on November 20th. The images have been sourced from an accessories brochure.
The upcoming BMW 4 Series convertible is most likely to sport a folding hard-top and will replace the 3 Series convertible, as the 3 Series brand would be used on the high volume body styles. A 2+2 seat layout with an elongated trunk and an optional bike rack are seen on the leak.
The powertrain options for the 4 Series convertible are most likely to be carried over from the coupe version and the transmission choices are also believed to include a choice of a six-speed manual and an eight-speed auto gearbox.
The 4 Series convertible will be offered in three petrol and diesel options. These include a 420d variant which will house a 181 bhp 4-cylinder turbo diesel, a 428i with a 242bhp 4-cylinder engine, and a 435i with a 302 bhp 3.0L 6-cylinder engine.
A 420i with 181bhp, 430d with 254bhp and 435d with 309bhp are expected sometime after the launch.
Sales of the BMW 4 Series convertible will commence in early 2014 with the prices slightly higher than the coupe version, which starts at GBP £29,200 (INR 28.95 lakhs).
