BMW India has relaunched the petrol model of the 2016 BMW 3 Series (facelift) in India through the BMW 320i. This is the 3 Series' second and the only model apart from the BMW 320d to be available in India.
While the BMW 320d is available in four trim levels (Prestige, Sport Line, Luxury Line and M Sport), the BMW 320i is available in two trim levels: Prestige and Luxury Line. The 320i is imported as a CBU (Completely Built Unit), and priced at INR 36,90,000 (ex-showroom India) for the Prestige trim level and at INR 42,70,000 (ex-showroom India). BMW offers the petrol model in four colours: Alpine White, Black Sapphire, Imperial Blue Brilliant Effect and Jatoba.
The BMW 320i is powered by the 2.0-litre BMW TwinPower Turbo turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine that makes 135 kW (184 hp) at 5,000 rpm and 270 Nm of torque from 1,350 to 4,600 rpm. Power is sent to the rear wheels.
The 320i Prestige features the basic 8-speed Steptronic automatic transmission, while the high-end 320i Luxury Line benefits from the more capable 8-speed Steptronic Sport automatic transmission. The Comfort, ECOPRO and Sport driving modes are common to both, but the Luxury Line offers Sports+ mode as well. The 320i can sprint from nought to 100 km/h in 7.3 seconds and continue further to a maximum speed of 235 km/h.
The 320i Prestige features Veneto Beige | Sensatec Veneto Beige upholstery, while the 320i Luxury Line is available with three upholstery combinations: Leather Dakota Oyster / Oyster Dark Highlight | Black, Leather Dakota Saddle Brown / Brown highlight with bicolor instrument panel | Black and Leather 'Dakota' Veneto Beige / Oyster dark highlight | Veneto Beige / Black.
The 320i's interior highlights, varying as per the trim level, include electrically operated glass sunroof, 100 watt 9-speaker sound system, 8.8-inch colour display and touch with handwriting recognition for the BMW iDrive infotainment system and Navigation system Professional with 3D maps.
